St. Luke’s A Cappella SLSing Off

St. Luke's students created their own a cappella groups and musical arrangements resulting in a spectacular sing-off. (Video included)

Singers at St. Luke’s School wowed their audience with a cappella arrangements during the 2018 SLSing Off. It was the fifth year St. Luke’s Chorus (9th & 10th grades) and Chorale (11th & 12th grades) formed their own groups and musical arrangements and faced off against their singing peers.

Students and faculty filled the school’s Black Box Theater to hear creatively crafted mashups of songs from the 1970s-1990s. St. Luke’s Upper School Music Department Chair Dale Griffa who oversaw the event said, “The creative process is a great learning experience for everyone involved. They reflect on what works and what does not and how they can help move the group forward as an ensemble. This allows them to grow not just as artists but also as leaders.”

In a coming week, the top group from Chorus and Chorale will compete in front of the Upper School, and an overall winner will be selected by popular vote.
