The Cum Laude Society was founded in 1906 and was modeled on the collegiate level Phi Beta Kappa. The Cum Laude Society’s motto is Arete, Dike, Time—Excellence, Justice, Honor. Arete includes the concept of excellence in the moral sense and is not limited to academic success.
The St. Luke’s chapter of Cum Laude also inducted Guy Bailey, our Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning, as an honorary member of the chapter. This induction was in honor of Guy’s service to St. Luke’s School for 20 years, service in the field of education for 46 years, and his retirement from SLS this school year.
