St. Luke's Freshman To Attend National Basketball Trials
Caroline Lau '22 is one of 33 players from across the country to be selected try out for the 2019 U16 National Women's Basketball team

St. Luke's basketball star Caroline Lau '22 has been selected to try out for the 2019 U16 National Women's Basketball team in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Lau is one of only 33 players from across the country to be chosen by the USA Basketball Developmental National Team Committee for the initial tryout process, which will take place at the US Olympic training center between May 23-27.
The trial sessions will include opportunities for the players to demonstrate their individual skills, as well as to participate in 3x3 tournaments and other scrimmages, with many of the countries top college coaches and national evaluators in attendance.

The evaluators will then hand-pick 15-18 of the group to stay for a training camp between May 27-31. From there, 12 players will be chosen for the final roster to participate in The International Basketball Association (FIBA) tournament in Puerto Aysen, Chile, from June 16-22.
The talented guard will be up against some of the best basketball players in her age group and is looking forward to playing with the elite group: "It is a tremendous opportunity. I am extremely excited to play with such a talented group and to show the coaches what I can do. I have been working very hard to prepare for the trip and I am just looking to enjoy the experience."

St. Luke's Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach Matt Ward is thrilled for Lau to be given this opportunity: "Caroline is a special player and has worked really hard to get to this level. I am extremely happy that she's receiving the recognition she deserves on the national stage. Trying out for this team will be an unforgettable experience for her."
