Stamford High School Basketball Coach Leaves for Same Post in New Canaan
Jay Melzer, who attended Stamford High, held the position for the last four years.
New Canaan, CT - Jay Melzer, head coach of the Stamford High School boys basketball team for the past four years, reportedly is leaving that post to become the head basketball coach at New Canaan High.
Melzer, who attended Stamford High as a teenager, told the New Canaan News that the decision to leave Stamford was a difficult one, but he had to do what he thought was best for his family.
In addition to becoming head basketball coach, Melzer also will be a full-time physical education teacher at the high school.

Melzer is replacing Mike Evans, who resigned as New Canaan's basketball coach in March.
