Supreme Court Denies Farren Petition

NEW CANAAN, CT—The U.S. Supreme Court denied a petition from J. Michael Farren to hear an appeal on the $28.6 million civil lawsuit against him by his ex-wife.

Farren was convicted of nearly bludgeoning his now ex-wife to death at their New Canaan home. The incident happened in 2010 and Farren was convicted in 2014 and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The Supreme Court's decision should end legal proceedings for the civil matter, according to the New Canaanite. A lawyer for Farren's ex-wife Mary Margaret Farren said Michael Farren's game of trying to manipulate the legal system is over.

Farren served as deputy White House counsel under President George W. Bush and served in various positions under President George H.W. Bush.

Michael Farren was served with a complaint that sought to begin divorce proceedings, according to a procedural history court document. On Jan. 6, 2010 he assaulted Mary Margaret Farren with a flashlight and his fists and told her that he was going to kill her. She sustained serious injuries and at one point lost consciousness during the brutal assault.

She managed to escape with her two children.

Farren is due to be released in 2029. He is currently at the Garner Correctional Institute in Newtown, according to Department of Correction records.
