Suspect From New Canaan Gift Card Scam Case Busted Again: Police

He was arrested with two others in 2016 after trying to buy gift cards with fraudulent credit cards.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 26-year-old Brooklyn, NY man, who New Canaan police arrested in 2016 in a credit card scam case, was arrested by police again on Friday, this time for not showing up to court in the original case.

Markeith P. Wright was apprehended at an undisclosed location by bail enforcement agents and turned over to the New Canaan Police Department which held an active warrant for his arrest on a first-degree failure to appear charge.

In January of 2016, Wright and two others tried to used fraudulent credit cards to purchase gift cards from the Walgreens on Pine Street, according to police. At the time of that arrest, Wright was charged with multiple violations, including unlawful reproduction of a credit card, criminal attempt at illegal use of a credit card.

On Friday, Wright was held in lieu of bail of $25,000 and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
