A Sweet Surprise for New Canaan Wish Child, Layla
New Canaan Community celebrates a wish come true
Make-A-Wish® Connecticut recently granted three-year-old Layla’s wish to go to Walt Disney World with her family, including her mother, father, twin sister, and older sister. Before going to Disney, though, Layla was given an especially sweet surprise: a Wish Delivery party at The Candy Scoop.
The Candy Scoop is a sweet shoppe offering various treats, including chocolates and other confections. Located in New Canaan, The Candy Scoop is owned by Lauren and Megan Palladino. Since their opening, Lauren and Megan became engaged with Make-A-Wish®, and they have continued to make helping Make-A-Wish® and their community a priority.
Before going to The Candy Scoop, Layla and her sisters were given princess dresses to wear for Layla’s special Wish Delivery party. Once dressed in princess attire, Layla and her family set out to The Candy Scoop, where community members, including a past Wish Child and her family, were anxiously awaiting Layla’s arrival.

Layla arrived at The Candy Scoop to see many people holding personalized signs, along with Make-A-Wish® luminaires lining the sidewalk. After her warm wish welcome, Layla and ten of her friends enjoyed Disney-themed crafts and a sweet experience at The Candy Scoop.
Along with The Candy Scoop, the Women for Wish Kids group has been working to raise funds and awareness for Make-A-Wish.

Even before Layla had her wish granted, she and her family got involved in events with Make-A-Wish® to help give back to their community. In December, Layla and her family assisted Make-A-Wish® in a fundraising effort tied to collecting letters to Santa at Baskin Robbins, another supporter, during the Holiday Stroll.

About the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut, Inc.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Wish-come-true experiences can do wonders by providing a much-needed break from lengthy hospital stays and medical treatments. They give back to a child what a serious medical condition can take away—the chance to simply enjoy being a kid. Wish kids choose something that will inspire happiness, and allow them to spend precious time with their families. The Connecticut chapter has made over 2,500 wishes come true since its inception in 1986.
