Taste Of New Canaan Stroll Returns To Downtown Area

The popular summer event will feature "a delicious celebration of the town's vibrant dining scene."

NEW CANAAN, CT — The seventh annual Taste of New Canaan Stroll is scheduled to take place Aug. 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., inviting food lovers to explore downtown while supporting the New Canaan Food Pantry.

According to a news release provided by Rock Paper Scissors Custom Events, who produces the event, the stroll is presented by the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce.

The self-guided culinary adventure is a delicious celebration of the town's vibrant dining scene that invites guests to sip and savor through downtown while discovering the very best of New Canaan's restaurants, retailers and local hospitality across three distinctive tasting experiences, according to the release.

The following descriptions of each tasting experience were provided by Rock Paper Scissors Custom Events:

  • The Taste Tour features 15-stops showcasing signature bites. Highlights include The Roger Sherman serving Czar Egg Mimosas, The Waveny offering Thai Watermelon Salad with Shrimp, and Thail by Chef Prasad dishing up Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice.
  • Family Fiesta is a shorter route with 10-delicious-stops, blending sweet and savory treats from favorites including Mama Hu's Sushi Bakes, Cherry Street Cheese & Provisions, Curry Mango's Vermicelli Payasam, and Press Burger's Banana Pudding.
  • The Pour Tour is a 21+ tasting experience featuring seasonal wines, craft beers, and signature cocktails at 10-participating venues. Valid photo ID is required.

Last year's event welcomed more than 250 participants and raised over $7,400 for the New Canaan Food Pantry, according to the release.

"Thanks to the generous support of Walter Stewart's Market, much needed pantry staples are supplied at cost, allowing every dollar raised to have an even greater impact," the release reads.

Strollers must pick up their wristbands and tour maps beginning at 5 p.m. at Stewart's Spirits.

Final check-in is 7:30 p.m., and all tours conclude promptly at 8 p.m., according to the release.

"The Taste of New Canaan Stroll has become one of the Chamber's signature community events," Laura Budd, Executive Director of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, said in a news release. "It brings people into our downtown, shines a spotlight on our outstanding local businesses, and helps provide essential support for the local Food Pantry. It's a wonderful example of the local community coming together to do good while having a great evening out."

Tickets are limited and advance purchase is strongly
recommended, according to the release.
