Tax Hike Proposed in New Canaan Board of Finance Budget

The budget comes with a proposed tax increase

NEW CANAAN, CT — The Board of Finance finalized its version of the budget and recommends a 2.2 percent mill rate increase.

The Town Council is the last and final step for approving the budget. The town budget is 2.65 percent higher than the current year and the schools budget is 1.6 percent more, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

$3.7 million from the town's reserve fund will be used to help reduce increased taxes.
