Temporary Refugee Ban Could Derail New Canaan Effort
A group in New Canaan is attempting to bring in a refugee family to the area.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A group of New Canaan residents is racing against the clock to help move a refugee family before any temporary ban on refugees.
Juli Kurtzman posted the idea on the "New Canaan Moms" Facebook page and 140 people signed on to the effort and raised more than $11,000 for the cause, according to the Stamford Advocate.
A group called New Canaan Welcomes was formed and trained with Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services to get a sponsorship application approved.

The hope is now that the family will be able to come before any kind of ban goes into effect. They will likely settle in Stamford or Norwalk, which is more friendly to those without cars.
President Donald Trump is expected to enact a temporary ban until more aggressive vetting measures are set.
