Thanksgiving Food Drive: St. Luke's Families Go Above & Beyond

St. Luke's 8th grade students started this season of gratitude and giving by organizing the school annual food drive for Inspirica.

"It was amazing how much food poured in the Thursday before Thanksgiving," shared St. Luke's Center for Leadership Director Kate Parker-Burgard. "During our annual one-day food drive, the school community once again outdid itself with generosity."

St. Luke's 8th grade led this year’s food drive and placed it in the context of a week of gratitude. A large poster in the school's Student Commons invited people to write down what they were thankful for. Most prominent in their reflections were family and friends. The food drive was the culminating event of the week.

Stamford-based Inspirica sent a pickup truck to collect the food, and it turned out that they needed two additional vehicles to fit all of the food. St. Luke's 8th graders jumped into action as they carted bag after bag of food to the waiting vehicles. “It feels good to help,” said St. Luke's Nihaal Singh Kochar ‘24 as he brought food outside. Parker-Burgard added, "As we enter this season of gratitude and giving, his vocalized reflection perfectly captures a sentiment we all share."
