Thanksgiving Weather Outlook Issued For Connecticut

The weather will change dramatically next week just in time for the busy holiday travel week. We'll let you know what to expect.

It’s truly hard to believe that it’s almost Thanksgiving. We’re just a week away from the big day when millions of Americans will be traveling to visit family and friends, and everyone wants to know what the weather will be like.

In Connecticut, it feels like it has been fall, well it still is fall, for a long time now. Even as we plunge deep into November, the days feel about the same — temps in the upper 50s to low 60s with plenty of sunshine. When it rains, and it hardly does in Connecticut anymore, it’s a big deal because of the severe rain shortage in the state.

All of this begins to change, somewhat dramatically, next week as it’s going to get much colder, windy, and yes, we may see a rainy Thanksgiving Day in Connecticut.

You’ll notice a big weather change on Sunday as the high temperature will struggle to reach 50 degrees and beginning on Monday the temps will get downright cold in Connecticut, according to the National Weather Service. Daytime highs will struggle to reach into the low 40s. Temps will be at freezing along the Shoreline and in the 20s at night in interior sections.

The good news for those driving or flying is that the weather looks dry Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. The best chance for rain, according to Weather.com, is actually on Turkey Day itself, as there is a 60 percent chance of showers.

Next snow chance?

And Weather.com projects out 15 days with its forecast, and for those interested in snow, the next chance to see some flakes is Tuesday, Nov. 29. But, I imagine the forecast will change 20 times between now and then. So don’t get your snow shovel ready just quite yet.
