The incident occurred at about 1 a.m. on Dec. 18.

NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan police are investigating the case of a car stolen from the driveway of a local residence, where the thieves also tried to break into the home, according to Lt. Jason Ferraro.
The vehicle, a gray 2012 Mercedes-Benz E350 two-door, was taken at about 1 a.m. on Dec. 18 from a home on Weeburn Drive. It had been left unlocked with the keys inside, said Ferraro.
Before the thieves drove off in the vehicle, one of them tried the front door of the home to see if it was locked, and fortunately it was.
