Timeline of When the Much-Needed Rain Will Begin in Connecticut
Most of Connecticut is considered under a severe drought and there is some rain on the way. We'll let you know when it's expected to arrive.

A majority of Connecticut is under a severe drought status and the good news is some rain is on its way but the timeline has shifted a bit.
There is also good news if you have outdoor plans on Sunday, whether it’s attending a festival or just spending time with family and friends, as the weather will be mostly dry.
Originally, it looked like rain could fall throughout the day Sunday but now the heaviest rain will move through after midnight and Monday morning.

Most of Connecticut was classified to be in a severe drought this week as we’re running up to eight inches of rain below where we should be at this time of the year.
NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Darren Sweeney said on social media, “Today is not a washout. In fact, much of the day remains dry. The best chance for downpours is tomorrow morning with lingering showers through the day. Some towns will pick up 1" or more of rain. The problem with the downpours is that some towns will miss out. Overall, beneficial rain.

Hartford and Tolland counties are under a Hazardous Weather Outlook for a low risk for a few strong thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
Here’s the timeline of when the rain will begin in CT via the National Weather Service:
Sunday: Mostly cloudy with high near 80. Just a 30-40 percent chance of showers and a thunderstorm during the day.
Sunday night: Chances for rain in Connecticut increase to 70-80 percent after 11 p.m. tonight. Some of the storms can produce heavy rainfall.
Monday: Up to an inch of rain on Monday with showers and thunderstorms likely, an 80 percent chance. The showers should taper off in the early evening hours.
Tuesday: 30 percent chance of more showers. The sun returns in the afternoon.
As of right now Wednesday through Saturday look wonderful with plenty of sunshine and temps in the mid 70s each day.
