Town Council To Hold Public Hearing On Leases For 2 New Canaan Properties: Agenda
A public hearing on leases for two key properties in town are on the agenda for an upcoming New Canaan Town Council meeting.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A public hearing on leases for two key New Canaan properties are on the agenda for an upcoming Town Council meeting.
The public hearing is set for Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the meeting room at Town Hall, located at 77 Main Street, and will be a hybrid meeting, allowing for participation in person and over Zoom, according to a meeting agenda available on the town website.
The meeting will also be broadcast on NCTV Channel 79.

According to the agenda, the council will consider, hear public comment and potentially take action on a proposal to lease a portion of a town-owned parcel of land at 28 Grove Street for outdoor employee parking.
The hearing is intended to satisfy the public hearing requirement of Connecticut General Statutes Section 7-163e, according to the agenda.

The council will also hear public comment on a separate proposal to lease The Playhouse movie theater building, located at 93 Elm Street, to a theater operator, according to the agenda.
The agenda also notes the Playhouse proposal is being presented under the same state statute.
Council members may also enter into executive session after the public hearing to discuss a lease of real estate by the town, according to the agenda.
The council is then scheduled to review and possibly approve both lease agreements, according to the agenda.
