Town Provides Information On Taxes Due In New Canaan

Information via the town of New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, CT — Taxes due Jan. 1, 2024, can still be paid without interest in New Canaan this month, according to town officials.

In a news release provided by the town, officials said for all persons liable to pay real estate taxes, motor vehicle taxes or sewer use fees to the town of New Canaan on the assessment list of Oct. 1, 2022, taxes became due Monday, according to a notice by Collector of Taxes Rosanna DiPanni.

The taxes and fees will be acceptable by the town without interest if paid on or before Feb. 1, 2024.

Failure to receive a tax bill does not negate responsibility for full payment of taxes and fees, according to the notice.

Payments may be made in the following ways:

Online: visit www.newcanaan.info / Departments / Tax Collector.

Check – mailed and postmarked by Feb. 1: Make check payable to Town of New Canaan and mail to P.O. Box 150403, Hartford, CT 06115-0403. On-time mailed payments must be postmarked by the U.S. Post Office by Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024.

Check – delinquent payment mailed after Feb. 1: Make check payable to Town of New Canaan and mail to Town Hall, 77 Main Street, New Canaan, CT 06840.

If a receipt is requested, a stamped self-addressed envelope must be provided with mailed payment.

In person: Deliver payment to the Tax Collector’s Office, Town Hall, 77 Main Street. Office hours: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The office will be closed all day Jan. 15, 2024.
