Transfer Station Permits Now Available In New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, CT — Residents of New Canaan are now able to apply for their 2022-2023 Transfer Station Permit through the town website.

According to a news release, new permits must be in place by Aug. 1. To apply for a transfer station permit, go to newcanaanct.info/transfer-station.

The permit fee is the same as the current year:

  • $45 if you have a contract with an approved and registered trash hauler
  • $75 if you do not have a contract with an approved and registered trash hauler.

If you did not purchase a transfer station permit that expired June 30:

  • You will need to provide a copy of your most recent vehicle registration for the vehicles you are requesting a permit. Under the Vehicle Information, click "Choose File" and insert the file picture of the registration. You may also email the registration(s) to transferstation@newcanaanct.gov. Please list your last name in the subject line.
  • If you request the $45 fee, you must provide a copy of the most recent invoice from a trash hauler that is approved and registered with the town transfer station and health departments. Make a copy of your invoice in a file. At the proper line in the application under Trash Hauler Invoice, click “Choose File” then click on the file. The invoice copy may also be emailed to transferstation@newcanaanct.gov. Please list your last name in the subject line.

If that is the case, you will need to provide a copy of the new vehicle registration with your permit application.
