Woman Who Fell at New Canaan Teen Center 'Inattentive': Town Lawyers
The woman fell at the Outback teen center and injured her lower back, according to a lawsuit against the town.

The Town of New Canaan responded to a slip-and-fall lawsuit related to an incident where a Stamford woman fell at the New Canaan Teen Center and injured her lower back in October 2014.
Patti Becker was attending an event and fell from a single step riser in the entrance vestibule of the building, according to the lawsuit. Her lawsuit alleges that the Town of New Canaan was negligent due to the design and layout of the area. The suit also names New Canaan Teen Center as a defendant.
She is suing for more than $15,000 after sustaining a lower back and other injuries in the fall.

The town fired back in a legal answer that any injuries sustained were the fault of Becker due to being, “...inattentive and failed to keep a proper lookout,” and “she was not watchful of her surroundings.”
New Canaan's answer was written by lawyers at Ryan Ryan Deluca LLP.
