Young People’s Poet Laureate Naomi Shihab Nye to speak at NCCS
Palestinian-American poet will be at New Canaan Country School Monday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m., for an evening of poetry and discussion.

New Canaan Country School is pleased to welcome award-winning Palestinian-American poet, writer, anthologist and educator Naomi Shihab Nye to campus Monday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m., for an evening of poetry and discussion.
Ms. Nye, a world traveler and frequent speaker, is the author or editor of more than 30 volumes. Recently named Young People’s Poet Laureate by the Poetry Foundation, her collection of poems for young adults entitled Honeybee won the 2008 Arab American Book Award in the Children’s/Young Adult category. Her novel for children, The Turtle of Oman, was chosen as both a Best Book of 2014 by The Horn Book and a 2015 Notable Children’s Book by the American Library Association. Her most recent work includes the book, Voices in the Air: Poems for Listeners, and a book of poems, The Tiny Journalist.
The poetry reading and author talk will be followed by a question and answer session and will kick off the school’s annual Festival of Books, a week-long event which celebrates literacy. For more information about the event, please visit www.countryschool.net/poet.
