140 Wilbur Cross High 2023 Grads Earned Official Seal Of Biliteracy

The designation is for students who have achieved a "high level of proficiency in English and one or more foreign languages."

NEW HAVEN, CT—New Haven Public Schools will award the Connecticut State Seal of Biliteracy to approximately 140 graduating seniors at Wilbur Cross High School on May 31 from 6 to 7 p.m.

The Connecticut State Seal of Biliteracy is affixed on the diploma and recorded on the transcripts of students who have achieved a “high level of proficiency in English and one or more foreign languages.” Proficiency refers to the ability to use languages in real-world situations.

The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by a school, school district or county office of education in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. The Seal of Biliteracy takes the form of a gold seal that appears on the transcript or diploma of the graduating senior and is a statement of accomplishment for future employers and for college admissions.
