$2.5K Reward For Info On Emaciated Dog Abandoned Near West Rock: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT —A $2,500 reward is being offered that leads to a positive identification of the person(s) responsible for abandoning an emaciated dog near west Rock Park, police said.

Desmond's Army Animal Law Advocates is offering the reward.

According to the New Haven Police Department and its Animal Shelter Instagram accounts, this is the "second abandoned dog of the day picked up by" the Robin I. Kroogman New Haven Animal Shelter. The starving female pup was found in West Rock Park.

"We've named her Nakia, meaning faith and hope," the animal shelter posted. "Let's work together to give Nakia the care and love she deserves."

Anyone with information, or who recognizes the dog, are asked to contact the New Haven Animal Shelter at 203-946-8110.

It's noted that the dog will require medical care and for those who are able to donate, should send a check to New Haven Animal Shelter, 81 Fournier St., New Haven, CT 06511.
