2 Men Arrested In New Haven Paintball Incident

Two men accused of firing and hitting officers with paintball guns were arrested over the weekend.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Over the past weekend, police said they responded to numerous calls of people firing paintball guns at pedestrians and cars. Christian Pierre Calcano, 20, and Jean Capierre Calcano-Quinones, 23, were arrested and charged with assault on a police officer, carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of reckless endangerment first degree, and interfering with an officer.

According to police: two plainclothes officers canvassing the area of Howard Avenue and Putnam Street in the Hill on Sunday at around 1:30 a.m. in an unmarked police car spotted two suspects who were carrying paintball guns.

When the police vehicle slowed, the two suspects began to fire paintballs at the unmarked car. The two suspects struck the car several times.

The two officers got out of their car and pursued the suspects on foot. During the chase, the two suspects fired at the following officers. One officer was struck three times.

The men were released on bonds initially set at $350,000 each and are due in Superior Court in New Haven on Nov. 24.
