24-Year Department Veteran Daniel Coughlin Sworn-In As New Haven Fire Chief Tuesday

And as senior member of the city's public safety team, Coughlin will be responsible for leading the 300-plus member department.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Unanimously approved by the New Haven Board of Alders Monday night, with bagpipes as background music, Daniel Coughlin was sworn in as the next permanent Fire Chief of the New Haven Fire Department Tuesday at City Hall.

New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker announced Coughlin’s appointment in January.

Coughlin first joined the New Haven fire service in 2002. He was steadily promoted through the ranks and brings over 20 years of firefighting experience and leadership to the position, as noted by Elicker's office.
