NEW HAVEN, CT —Three eighth-grade students at Bishop Woods School ingested what appeared to be candy one of them had brought into school, New Haven Public Schools spokesperson Justin Harmon said.

The student who brought in the substance, which he described as an “edible,” experienced slurred speech and vomited, Harmon said. All three students were transported to the hospital as a precaution and police are "investigating what may have been in the candy," according to Harmon.

A "sweep of the school" was done, and Harmon said it "appears that no other children ingested the substance."
