3 NHPD Cops 'Save The Life' Of A Suicidal Woman Atop A Ledge: PD
In at once heartbreaking and powerful bodycam video, NHPD cops are seen saving the life of a young woman sitting on a parking garage ledge.

NEW HAVEN, CT —Earlier this month, a woman who police said was in "distress," contemplating suicide, had her life saved when three New Haven police officers intervened.
According to police, and as seen in an officer's body-worn camera footage, the woman was sitting on the railing of a parking garage ledge. It was just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6.
Police officers, two women officers and one male, Aviles, Berrios and M. Vega, one of whom was patrolling on a bicycle, approached her, albeit slowly.

The male officer, who was walking his bike, can be heard saying, "It'll be OK!" The woman cries. The officers got closer and were able to get her down from the railing, high atop downtown streets. She continues to weep and cry.
"It'll be OK, sweetheart." The two women officers speak with her and try to comfort her. The male officer radios in: "We've secured her off the ledge," he tells dispatch.

The officers sit down on the ground with her, comforting her. "You can talk to us." They ask her if she has family locally and that they'd contact her mother if she wanted them to. "We want the best for you. You can talk with me," one said, "or stay quiet, relax for a little, that's fine too."
Police posted the video to its new Facebook page. The woman's face is obscured and her name and other details redacted.
The New Haven Police Department said these officers saved her life.
