3 Shot Friday In 3 Separate But 'Targeted' Shootings Across City: PD
The night of the Grand Prix, from 5 p.m. until just before 9 p.m., a New Haven man, a West Haven man and a Seymour man were shot, cops say.

NEW HAVEN, CT — On a Friday night in New Haven, three separate shootings over the course of less than four hours left three men hospitalized with gunshot wounds, police said.
New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson, who went to the scenes of the shootings, was quoted as saying that while investigators believe the shootings were unrelated, he did say that in each case, police believe "the victims were targeted."
Friday was the night of the New Haven Grand Prix, and Jacobson said a "large contingency" of cops were in the downtown area.

"Once that event ended, I was able to re-deploy our resources out into the community and quell the violence," he said, adding at the time there was no current "threat to the community." But, "we need the community’s assistance and cannot solve these crimes without you.”
