After Alders Unanimous OK, Jacobson Sworn In As New Haven's Top Cop
Karl R. Jacobson was assistant chief. Now that he's sworn, acting chief Regina Rush Kittle gets a reprieve as the NHPD is facing scrutiny.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Longtime police officer and most recently assistant chief, Karl R. Jacobson was sworn in as New Haven's Chief of Police Wednesday after getting a unanimous OK from the Board of Alders Tuesday.
Mayor Justin Elicker said he is "confident he is the right person to lead the New Haven Police Department at this critical time."

Elicker said he and Jacobson "share a similar vision" for the police department: community-based policing and a holistic approach to public safety that moves beyond a policing-only paradigm."
"While we’ve made notable progress on all these fronts, we also know we have much more work to do, especially in light of recent events, and I am confident that Karl Jacobson is the leader to help us get there," Elicker said.
