Discovering Amistad share education team about how the ship was built, the story of the Amistad Rebellion, and how the vessel is used now.
NEW HAVEN, CT — The schooner Amistad has returned to its home port of New Haven and while dockside at Long Wharf Pier, with free public tours and other events slated.
In 2015, Discovering Amistad was formed following a recommendation by a State of Connecticut Advisory Committee.
The organization purchased the Amistad, Connecticut's flagship and a replica of the original schooner, in November 2015. Staff and volunteers spent the next year working on the ship, which was in great disrepair.
