NEW HAVEN, CT — A man is accused of striking a person with a handgun and firing it inside a home during a dispute, police said.
At 10:45 p.m. Friday, police responded to an address on Grafton Street for a report of a man, Devine Harris, 51, of New Haven, striking the victim with a handgun in the head and firing it inside the home during a dispute, police said.
Police found the victim outside the home and learned that Harris was still inside, police said.
Crisis negotiators arrived, and, with the assistance of a friend, Harris surrendered without further incident after about two hours, police said.
He was taken into custody and charged with first-degree assault, first-degree threatening, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace, and interfering with police. He is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
