NEW HAVEN, CT — Two star New York Yankees players made a surprise visit to an iconic New Haven pizzeria on Thursday.
Right fielder Aaron Judge and designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton stopped by Modern Apizza on State Street, according to a photo shared on the pizzeria’s Instagram page.
“What a surprise! Thanks for popping in,” the post reads, with Judge and Stanton shown with two staff members.
Both players are currently on the injured list.
Judge, the three-time American League MVP, was placed on the injured list earlier this month after being diagnosed with a stress fracture of the first rib on his right side. He could be out until August.
Stanton has been on the injured list since April 28 with a left calf strain and recently experienced a setback in his recovery, according to MLB.com.
The Yankees are in Boston for a four-game series with the rival Red Sox.
