$25K Reward Offered On New Haven Cold Case Homicide Approved By Gov.

NEW HAVEN, CT — On June 7, 2011, at around 8 p.m., the New Haven Police Department began investigating the fatal shooting of Robert Lee McArthur.

McArthur was in his car’s drivers seat sitting in traffic on Kimberly Avenue near Ella T Grasso Boulevard when he was killed in a drive-by shooting, police said.

Based on information received from eyewitnesses, it is believed the suspect(s) responsible for this violent act occupied a small dark-colored sport utility vehicle, police said Monday.

New Haven Police Major Crimes Detectives have reviewed all available evidence and have been unable to find any significant leads or motives for this crime, that said there is one “motive that continues to be explored,” the department noted in a news release.

The New Haven Police Department and the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office Cold Case Unit continue to investigate.

‘Seeking Information’ flyers were distributed throughout the Kimberly Avenue neighborhood to solicit information which has yielded no new information relative to the identification of the suspect(s).

Investigators believe that a monetary reward may give impetus to someone with crucial information that will lead to a successful conclusion of this investigation.

To that end, Gov. Ned Lamont has approved a request for a reward of $25,000 for information on this case.

Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information valuable to investigators to call detectives at or through the department's anonymous tip-line at (8477).
