New Haven Man, 21, Victim Of Sunday Predawn Valley Street Drive-By Walks Into Hospital: NHPD

NEW HAVEN, CT—It was just before 5 a.m. Sunday when police were called to the St. Raphael campus of Yale New Haven Hospital for the report of a walk-in gunshot victim.

A 21-year-old New Haven man, taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, told police that he was standing at his car in the area of Valley and Emerson streets when a "car drove by, he heard a pop, and realized he had been shot," police said. The man's injuries were non-life-threatening, they added.

Detectives canvassed the area but were unable to locate a crime scene, police posted on "X."

Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information valuable to investigators to call detectives at 203–946–6304 or through the department's anonymous tip line at 866–888–8477.
