UPDATE: Person Shot Near Edgewood Park Wednesday Night, Now a 'Homicide': NHPD

In a "X" post just before 10 p.m., police said they responded for a shooting victim. Thursday morning police said the male victim, 33, died.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police said Josiah Baptiste, 33, was fatally shot late Wednesday in New Haven.

At 9:26 p.m., police responded to the 500 block of Edgewood Avenue after several callers reported a person had been shot, police said.

Police found Baptiste in the median splitting Edgewood Avenue near Pendleton Street. He was taken to the hospital and later died.

"It appears Baptiste was targeted, and this was not a random act," police said.
