NEW HAVEN, CT — A body was found Sunday morning in the West River near where a missing 13-year-old boy was last seen, according to police.
Investigators said a person fishing discovered the body around 6:40 a.m. near the New Haven/West Haven line, close to where King Best, a 13-year-old New Haven resident, disappeared after entering the river early Thursday morning, according to NBC Connecticut. Authorities said they cannot confirm the body's identity until the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner completes an autopsy.
Crews had searched for Best for several days before shifting from a rescue operation to a recovery effort Thursday afternoon, according to NBC Chicago.
