Bicyclist Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash: New Haven Police

Officers found the involved vehicle, but it was unoccupied, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in New Haven, police said.

At 11:16 p.m. Friday, police responded to the area of Howard Avenue and 2nd Street on a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist; the vehicle fled the scene, police said.

Police found a man in the roadway, unresponsive and suffering from serious injuries, police said.

The victim, a 53-year-old New Haven man, was taken to the hospital, where he died, police said.

"The initial investigation indicates that the bicyclist was attempting to cross the street when he was struck," police said.

Officers found the involved vehicle in another area of New Haven, but it was unoccupied, police said. The Crash Reconstruction Unit responded and is investigating.
