The Connecticut Department of Children and Families notified New Haven police on May 22 of an accusation of sexual assault between Bonet and a student.

Police said the case was immediately assigned to Det. Mariah Miller of the Special Victim's Unit.

"A forensic interview with the victim was conducted," police wrote in a news release. "She disclosed two separate allegations of sexual assault which occurred on consecutive days in Bonet's office after he arranged to be alone with her while school was in session.

"Detective Miller was able to corroborate the victim's account with video surveillance from the school which corroborated her accounts, constancy statements with witnesses and staff members, along with other evidence."
