NEW HAVEN, CT— Police charged a New Haven man in connection with a stabbing at a downtown market Thursday night.
Officers were called at around 9:40 p.m. to The Market on the Green, 129 Church St, for the report of a stabbing, spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart said.
Cops found the victim, a 38-year-old man, in the back of the store suffering a stab wound. He was taken to Yale/New Haven Hospital, a few blocks away, where he was found to have non-life-threatening injuries, Bruckhart said.
Meanwhile, cops learned that "a dispute arose between the victim and suspect over a woman, which escalated when the victim was stabbed."
Soon after, cops found Miguel Mendoza-Melchor, 58, on Orange Street by Chapel Street, where he was taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace, Bruckhart said.
