NEW HAVEN, CT—New Haven police responded to two separate daytime shootings on Saturday, the department noted on social media.
At around 1:30 p.m., police reported officers responded to the 200 block of Pine Street in the Fair Haven section of the city. Police said the victim, a 33-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. Taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, his injuries were non-life-threatening. In an update Monday, police said the shooting was preceded by an altercation between two people who knew each other that escalated.
At around 5 p.m., across town, police responded to the 400 block of Orchard Street in the Dixwell/Dwight section of the city for the report of a person shot. Police said they found the victim, an 18-year-old man, who suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. Taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, his injuries were non-life-threatening. Police said a search of the victim's apartment is pending.
Police said there's no indication the shootings are connected.
