A New Haven man was arrested in Maine Wednesday after police raided a Waterville residence and seized 18 pounds of drugs — including methamphetamine, crack cocaine and fentanyl — with an estimated street value of more than $1 million.
Waterville, Maine police said they took Tony Brown, 48, of New Haven into custody and charged him with three counts of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs.
Police seized the drugs after executing a search warrant at 127 Western Ave., in Waterville on Wednesday, with assistance from agents with Homeland Security Investigations.
The drugs included about 13.5 pounds of methamphetamine, 3.5 pounds of crack cocaine, and one pound of fentanyl, police said.
Law enforcement also seized about $30,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges could be forthcoming, police said.
Waterville Police Chief William Bonney said of the arrest, "Unfortunately we are seeing more and more of these out of state actors coming into our community and setting up shop to sell their poison. Shutting down an operation of this size is a huge win for the citizens of Waterville."
