NEW HAVEN, CT — Two incidents involving Avelo aircraft were reported over the weekend.

At Tweed-New Haven Airport Friday, while "taxiing out for departure," Avelo Airlines flight 345 to Palm Beach International Airport made a "tight turn on a taxiway sliding a wheel onto the adjacent grassy area," according to Avelo communications manager Courtney Goff.

Aboard the Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 Avelo aircraft were 166 passengers and six crew members, including two pilots and four flight attendants. Goff said there were no injuries and all passengers were "safely transported back to the terminal." The airport was not closed due to the incident, and "Avelo operations will continue as scheduled throughout the day."

At the time, Goff said, the airline worked with customers "to accommodate them on alternative flights" to Palm Beach.

"We are very sorry about the delay to our Customers’ travel plans this has caused. We are reviewing what caused this situation," she said.

Then on Sunday, Avelo flight 355, which departed from New Haven headed for Fort Lauderdale, HVN-FLL, made an emergency landing at Bradley Internation Airport.

Goff said that a "landing gear light indicated causing the diversion" and the plane landed safely.

"We inspected the aircraft, refueled and the plane departed about 90 minutes later to continue to Florida, she said. And issued another apology.

"We are very sorry about the delay to our Customers’ travel plans this caused," Goff said.

According to FlightAware, the aircraft was scheduled to depart New Haven at 1:50 p.m., Sunday. It left at 4:30. Then, for around 90 minutes, the Boeing 737-800 circled and made loops before making a "diverted" emergency landing at Bradley.
