Bank Robbery Reported in New Haven: Police

The Wells Fargo Bank on Church Street was robbed Friday afternoon. Breaking.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The Wells Fargo Bank, at 205 Church St. in New Haven, was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash Friday afternoon, according to police.

The incident occurred at about 12:46 p.m., when the bank's hold-up alarm was tripped. Detectives are investigating, and police have released the above surveillance photos.

"The bank had been robbed without violence," police wrote in a statement. "The robber passed a note to a teller demanding money. No weapon was displayed."

The thief was described as a heavy-set white man, with a full dark colored beard. He wore glasses, and he had on a dark-colored hooded jacket and dark colored pants. Additionally, he carried a dark colored backpack or similar type bag, and when he left the bank he fled in an unknown direction.
