NEW HAVEN, CT — Late Sunday night, police were called to a serious motorcycle collision on Grand Avenue.

It was around 11:40 p.m. in the 500 block of the Fair Haven thoroughfare, and they found the 35-year-old driver, who was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital, according to police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart.

"The initial investigation suggests the rider was traveling west on Grand Avenue near its intersection with East Street with several other individuals when he lost control and crashed just west of the intersection on Grand Avenue," Brukhart said. "No other vehicles appear to be involved at this time."

The rider is alive and was transported to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, police said.
