Bridgeport Man, 46, Shot Monday On Crescent Street: Police

It's reported that the man is an Uber driver, though police have not confirmed that nor identified him, and that a "passing bullet" hit him.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Just before 1 p.m. Monday, a 49-year-old Bridgeport man was shot on Crescent Street, between Ella T. Grasso Boulevard and Munson Street, police said.

The New Haven Independent reported the man, who is an Uber driver, was struck in the head "by a passing bullet." The Independent reported that police said the man "kept driving, erratically, a few blocks on Crescent."

There was a passenger in the Uber who was not hurt, it was reported.

According to New Haven police spokesperson officer Scott Shumway, it was 12:53 p.m. when police got a Shotspotter alert and 911 calls about gunfire and a person shot. Police arrived and found the man "suffering from a gunshot wound." He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital and is listed in stable condition, Shumway said.
