City's 6th 2022 Homicide: Shooting Victim, 17, Dies, Named By Cops

The teen who was shot on Poplar Street Sunday night was John Tubac, 17, of New Haven, police said. He succumbed to his injures Thursday.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The teen who was gunned down on Poplar Street late Sunday night has died, police said.

John Tubac, 17, of New Haven succumbed to his injuries Thursday, police spokesperson Scott Shumway said.

His killing is New Haven's sixth homicide of 2022.

It was around 11 p.m., when cops got a 911 call about a shot on Poplar Street, between Pine and Chatham streets. He was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was treated for life-threatening injuries and was then listed in critical condition.

In a family Facebook post, it was shared that he was High School in the Community graduate. On his Facebook page, he posted photos of himself playing saxophone.
