City's E-Scooter Program,' Expands To Fair Haven, Cedar Hill, Long Wharf Neighborhoods: Mayor

NEW HAVEN, CT — Since the city launched its e-scooter "micromobility program" in May 2025, more than 23,400 unique riders have taken over 172,000 trips, collectively traveling more than 333,000 miles.

Tuesday, New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker announced that this month, the city is expanding the program to the Fair Haven, Cedar Hill, and Long Wharf neighborhoods at 40-plus new mobility hubs.

To date, the service area has included the downtown area and adjoining neighborhoods across 120 mobility hubs.

"New Haven’s shared electric scooter program offers an affordable, convenient, sustainable way for residents and visitors to get around and explore the Elm City," it's noted in a news release.

And, to increase access for riders of diverse ages and abilities, an additional 150 Cosmo seated scooters are being deployed as part of the expansion, creating a total mixed fleet of approximately 500 standing and seated scooters, according to the Mayor's office.

The expansion of the electric shared scooter program is part of the city’s larger efforts to expand public transportation and shared mobility options for city residents, including other recent additions of the Ride New Haven electric bike share program and the Via New Haven ride share program

How it all works

Veo scooters can be used by people 18-plus. Scooters can be located and activated by using the free Veo app and scanning the QR code on a scooter at any of the city’s shared mobility hubs.

Rides cost $1 to unlock the scooter and then $0.40 per minute, and riders can also opt into a monthly subscription plan.

Veo also offers discounted rates for low-income riders, known as the Veo access program, which costs $5 per month for up to 30 minutes of riding per day.

Scooters are accessed and parked at designated shared mobility hubs, which, over time, the city intends for these hubs to support its e-scooter program, e-bike share program, and public bicycle parking where feasible.
