Come 'N Get 'Em: Woody's Wings Flying Out The Door At Downtown Spot

Linwood and Priscilla Lacy opened the original Woody's Wings on Whalley Avenue in January 2020, just as the pandemic was about to hit.

NEW HAVEN, CT —Linwood and Priscilla Lacy opened the original Woody's Wings on Whalley Avenue in the West Hills/Amity neighborhood in January 2020 after completing New Haven’s Small Business Resource Center’s DNA of an Entrepreneur program. They'd been a catering business before, and when they opened their brick-and-mortar mostly take-out shop, the wings started flying out the door.

With a strong neighborhood presence, they opened with the pandemic looming. And despite the struggle for so many eateries during the first two years of COVID-19, Woody's not only thrived, but the Lacy's blessed the community by providing free food for those families in need.

Setting their sights on expanding again, they collaborated with the City of New Haven’s Economic Development Administration to identify a new and larger space and also worked with the Small Business Resource Center to secure grants and loans to support their growth.
