Connecticut High School Seniors Can Apply to Southern CT State University For Free This Fall
From Thursday, Oct. 15 through Nov. 15, high school seniors applying for the 2027–28 academic year at SCSU will have $50 app fee waived.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Southern Connecticut State University is offering Connecticut high school seniors an opportunity to apply to Southern for free this fall.
From Thursday, Oct. 15 through Nov. 15, high school seniors applying for the 2027–28 academic year may submit their applications to Southern with the standard $50 application fee waived.
The month-long fee waiver is designed to reduce financial barriers and make it easier for prospective students to take the next step toward a college education at Southern.

"Southern’s free application period is an important opportunity to remove one more barrier for students who are considering college and encourage them to take that next step," said Nicholas Gleifert, associate director of marketing and events in the Office of First Year Admissions. "We want students and families to know that a Southern education is within reach. By making it easier to apply, we can help more students explore the opportunities available here and see how Southern can support their academic, career, and personal goals."
Once students apply, visiting campus is a natural next step in the college search process. A campus visit allows students and families to experience Southern firsthand, meet members of the community, explore academic programs, ask questions, and picture what life could look like here.
