Cop Cashes Checks In Slow-Moving Domestic Abuse Case: Report
A New Haven police officer arrested last year for abusing his wife is continuing to make his salary while his court case drags on.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Lt. Rahgue Tennant was arrested last year on accusations that he abused his wife and made violent threats. Since then his court case has been continued 11 times, allowing Tennant to earn $77,832 of paid administrative leave, according to The New Haven Independent.
In September of last year, Tennant allegedly held his family hostage in the Morris Cove neighborhood during a domestic violence incident. He was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree threatening, three counts of risk of injury to a minor and first-degree unlawful restraint.
Tennant was scheduled to appear in Superior Court Wednesday morning when his case was continued again.

While he has been on leave, he continues to move closer toward hitting the 20-year mark with the police force, which would allow him to receive a larger pension, according to The Independent.
Tennant has been with the force since 2000.

He has been attending substance abuse and domestic violence diversionary programs, which could result in the charges against him being nolled.
