Cops Have Man In Custody After State Street Storefront Window-Smashing Spree : NHPD

The man used an axe to smash windows and doors at a number of State Street locations Monday, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — After wielding an axe and smashing storefront windows and doors in a number of locations on State Street early Monday afternoon, cops have a suspect in custody.

"It looks like he hit three or four different locations," police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart said

Bruckhart confirmed that the street was temporarily closed near the I-91 State Street overpass.

The State Fish Farm Market at 892 State St. was one of the businesses targeted.

Also a target of the man's axe was Blessings II Go Chinese eatery at 898 State St.
