Cops Release Video Of Suspect Car In Read Street Shooting Of Teenager

A 17-year-old New Haven boy was shot Sept. 26 at around 5:30 p.m., on Read Street, between Winchester Avenue and Newhall Street​.

NEW HAVEN, CT — On Sept. 26, a 17-year-old New Haven teen was shot on Read Street, between Winchester Avenue and Newhall Street. Now, police have released a video of what they say is the suspect vehicle involved in the shooting.

It was an early Monday evening when police got a Shotspotter alert of gunfire on Read Street. Arriving just after a 5:30 p.m. call, officers were told that the teenager had walked into Saint Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital with a gunshot wound,New Haven police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway said at the time.

The teen was then taken by American Medical Response ambulance to the main hospital's ER on York Street. The boy was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Shumway said.
The Bureau of Identification responded to the scene and collected ballistic evidence. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.
